With Rainer and Jason we followed the way further to Yurimaguas and somewhere we left the unpaved main road. When we arrived at the lowlands you saw a heavy deforestation, the most hills were cut clear, sometimes a few small trees were left. Some slopes were still covered with rainforests, but at those places you often heard a chainsaw at the background. At some of those covered hills we went looking for a special variant of the D. fantasticus. Within a year or so, this beautiful frog will become extinct, as its habitat will be gone completely. We also found some D. ventrimaculatus, D. imitator, E. trivittatus, A. minutes and several species of treefrogs and toads.
